5 reasons Fundraising is more than just a career choice for 2024.

Recent research from the LBSF Report, polling 2,000 people across the UK, revealed that 40% are planning a career change within the next two years.

So, if you're contemplating a change, why wait? A profession in fundraising offers a unique and rewarding career path.

At Zen Fundraising, we take pride in our calm, connected and balanced ethos.

But we don't just apply this to our fundraising work; it filters into our everyday interactions with #TeamZen through our recruitment process, training and development and employee support.

Impact

At Zen, we aim to create a long-term impact by connecting quality donors face-to-face with our valued charity partners, Shelter, Young Lives, SOS, Plan International, VSO and WWF, to name a few.

But today, we're talking about another kind of impact.

Imagine a fulfilling career that is about more than just a weekly wage. Envision the impact you create, the influence you make.

Fundraising offers the satisfaction of knowing that your work directly contributes to meaningful causes. Every day, you will support humanitarian efforts or advocate for social justice, bringing a new opportunity to make a real difference.

Many candidates come to us seeking 'job satisfaction.' Individuals share a familiar feeling that they aren't 'doing enough.' Fundraising eliminates the all-so-common questions of purpose and intention.

Fundraising helps people find their why.

Wellbeing at Work.

We're all familiar with this term. And though we agree that the wellness at work movement is integral to work /life balance, employee retention and wellbeing, it has to be more than a four-day working week.

That's where fundraising comes in. Giving back is not just beneficial for those on the receiving end. Numerous studies have shown that helping others can significantly improve your mental health and wellbeing.  Giving triggers the parts of the brain related to joy, trust, and relationships with others and ourselves. Feel-good chemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin are released, a rush called the ''Helpers High'.

Every interaction and campaign adds to a sense of purpose and personal fulfilment in fundraising. It really is a win-win.

Diversity and inclusivity

At Zen Fundraising, diversity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s our strength. Our team across the UK and Ireland is a celebratory combination of religions, backgrounds, beliefs, and values.

This diversity promotes a culture of continuous learning and mutual respect, making Zen Fundraising a genuinely inclusive place to work.

We support causes that align with our ethos, and we support individuals in the same way. Every human deserves the right to safety, development, shelter, and love regardless of where they come from.

The potential for advancement is vast, with clear pathways to roles like Team Leader, General Manager, and Regional Manager. There are many examples of this within our fundraising teams. Here's looking at you, Freddie.

We invest in internal and external training, ensuring our team members constantly evolve and improve.

The possibilities are Zen-dless.

Keeping it Zen

Fundraising can be seen as competitive, but we believe in balance. Zen is a supportive and social environment. We aim to put the fun in fundraising without taking the focus away from our main mission of changing the world, one sign-up at a time.

Our emphasis on employee value and open communication ensures that everyone feels part of the Zen family. This nurturing atmosphere is why many choose to start and continue their careers with us.

Our weekly Fundraising Friday showdown is all about empowering one another. We incentivise our work to ensure our employees uplift one another and are rewarded for their hard work.

In 2024, a career in fundraising with Zen is more than just a job; it's a journey of empowerment, personal growth, and meaningful contributions to society.

So, why wait to make a change? Join us at Zen Fundraising and be part of something bigger.
