By 2050, there could be more plastics in the ocean than fish by weight.
A staggering thought, isn’t it? Every minute, the equivalent of a lorry full of plastic waste ends up in our oceans, choking marine life and polluting ecosystems that sustain people and nature alike.
WWF has been taking a stand for many years, leading efforts to reimagine how we manage plastics - eliminating unnecessary single-use plastics, sourcing sustainable alternatives, and improving systems to collect, recycle, and reuse essential plastics.
Zen Fundraising's ongoing partnership with WWF
We’re increasingly proud to connect supporters with WWF’s life-changing work. Their vision of oceans abounding with life, not discarded nets and bottles, is one we fully believe in.
Our co-founder, Duncan, has always been passionate about protecting our planet's incredible wildlife. He ran the 2024 London Marathon this year to support WWF's mission.
Our Compliance Officer is a proud pet owner and a long-time supporter of WWF, having adopted a tortoise years ago. Safe to say, we are all animal lovers here at Zen.
Still, beyond our love for animals, WWF's influential work in recovering endangered species and preserving natural habitats fuels our dedication.
What is WWF doing to protect our oceans?
WWF is advocating for a world where:
Marine ecosystems are free to flourish and free from plastic pollution.
Communities no longer face harmful pollutants from plastic production or burning.
Essential plastics are reused and repurposed, leaving no waste behind.
It is through honest and raw conversations like this that our fundraisers connect people with WWF's mission.
Such inspiring and insightful conversations show them how their support directly contributes to this fight for a plastic-free future.
How we can help as a collective
The fight against plastic waste is one we must all take part in. WWF’s campaigns show us that change is possible when we come together.
Some of #TeamZen's suggestions include reducing single-use plastics in your life, supporting organisations like WWF and spreading awareness. Every action matters.
Oceans of Plastic Day is a global awareness initiative and campaign on November 19th each year.
We came across one of WWF’s campaign videos showing the impact of their incredible work and how supporters are making it possible.
From this, we took something we can take to our future conversations with donors:
''Our planet isn't single use, and our plastic shouldn't be either.''
