At Zen Fundraising, we believe that supporter retention tells a much more meaningful story than just sign-up numbers. It shows trust, donor experience, and whether people truly feel connected to a cause after their first interaction.

It’s easy to get immersed in the pace of fundraising. Campaigns moving quickly, conversations happening daily, the industry changing, teams focused on delivering impact in the moment. Every so often though, it’s important to step back and look at the bigger picture.

Fundraising in the UK is changing, and the latest Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) UK Giving Report 2026 reflects that. Some of the headlines point to a tougher environment, with overall donations down and fewer people committing to regular giving than in previous years. It would be easy to see that as a decline, but that’s only part of the picture. We see it as another opportunity.
